Sir Andrew Cubie The first reference to a Cubie in Leith is in 1397, but the family then moved to East Lothian! Andrew is a latter-day returnee having been on the boards of Leith companies since the early 1970s, having just retired from the board of Kinloch Anderson. He was the senior partner of one of Scotland’s largest law firms, chaired the CBI in Scotland and wrote the Cubie report which brought about the ending of tuition fees for students in Scotland. He has chaired a large number of third sector organisations, both national and international. |
John Kennedy John is a Chartered Accountant and has been a partner in local Leith Accountants, Cowan & Partners for over 30 years. As Secretary and Treasurer of The Leith Trust he takes care of administrative and financial matters. John has been involved with a number of Leith bas ed organisations over the years and has a keen interest in the development of the area and the communities within it. |
Graeme Duncan Graeme is a partner in a law firm located in Leith which can trace its origins back to 1821. In common with the firm Graeme has devoted his career to servicing the needs of the Leith Community. Graeme was educated at George Heriot’s School and grew up in the East of Edinburgh. His childhood naturally led to his sporting allegiances being focussed in and around Leith. Since working in Leith, he has maintained an active interest in community activities both personally and through his law firm. As part of his outreach, in addition to his involvement with The Leith Trust, Graeme sits on the board of a local charity. Otherwise, Graeme has found time for family life being a father to 4 children and grandparent to 2 grandchildren. For leisure, Graeme is a longstanding member of a local choir and enjoys communal singing. |
Heather Kiteley Heather is the Chief Executive for the Port of Leith Housing Association (POLHA) Group and has a background in not for profit, charitable and commercial organisations. She, and the POLHA Group, aim to make a positive impact on people’s lives in Leith and north Edinburgh by providing affordable homes and services, and creating brilliant communities. |
Jack Simpson Jack's associations with Leith are tied to the 16 years - 10 of them as headteacher - that he spent at Leith Academy, an institution serving Leith since at least 1560, working with and for the community. He is currently a Senior Education Officer with the City of Edinburgh Council. Jack is Leith Trust’s representative on the Heritage Group which brings together a variety of individuals and organisations, looking to protect and promote the built and natural heritage of Leith as well as its vibrant arts and diverse culture. |
